Former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi returned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya this morning to continue having his statement recorded by investigators.

Clad in green batik shirt, Zahid arrived at the anti-graft agency's premises in a white Toyota Lexus about 9.15am. His daughter Nurul Hidayah arrived about 10 minutes later, in another car.

It is understood that Zahid's presence at MACC today is a continuation of yesterday's session, which is the third time Zahid has been called in for questioning since BN lost power in May.

Earlier reported sources saying that Zahid was being investigated on "several issues", including an alleged misappropriation of funds belonging to Akal Budi Foundation.

Yesterday, Zahid spent almost nine hours in the MACC premises before he exited at 5.40pm.

It is not been clear what Zahid was being questioned for, as there has been no official statement from MACC on the reason why they summoned him this time.

On his part, Zahid declined to take questions from media members as he left the MACC premises yesterday.

Prior to this, Zahid had been called in by the MACC in twice, in July.

The first was on July 2, when he was questioned on issues in relation to the alleged RM2.6 billion donation by the Saudi royalty that was deposited into former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank account.

Zahid returned to the MACC for the second time on July 3 to have his statement recorded on the alleged misuse of funds belonging to Akal Budi Foundation.

It was reported that RM800,000 from the foundation's funds were allegedly used to pay the credit card bills of Zahid and his wife.
