The Mass Rail Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) has been told to propose cost-cutting measures for its Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP Line) project.
Its chief executive officer Shahril Mokhtar said this after meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons today.
“We discussed how we could reduce the cost for Line 2 (SSP Line).
“We are trying our best to reduce the cost further to save the rakyat’s money.
“No (target) figures were shared... but now it is on our part to find ways to do it,” he told members of the media as he was leaving Menara Ilham in Kuala Lumpur.
It was previously reported that the MRT Line 2 would cost RM32 billion.
It was originally slated for completion in 2022.
