After spending more than three years in jail for a sodomy conviction, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is close to tasting freedom, with the Pardons Board set to meet today to decide on the matter.
Anwar and his family, among them wife and daughter, Pakatan Harapan president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah, have long maintained the charges were politically-motivated.
BN's shocking defeat at last week's general election saw the new Harapan government move swiftly to try to secure Anwar's pardon and release from prison.
Anwar is slated to take over from seventh prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in two-years time.
